Fabrizio Romano reports that Bayern Munich is convinced that they can recruit RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer as a follow-up to their acquisition of Matthijs de Ligt, and that a new offer is about to be made.
Talks began two months ago, and a personal agreement has already been made. The move is now imminent since Leon Goretzka will miss the first two months of the season while he recovers from knee surgery.
Laimer was previously mentioned as being scouted by Premier League teams by Romano. His Leipzig contract expires in 2023.
Laimer and Julian Nagelsmann, the head coach of Bayern, were coworkers at Leipzig, where the Austrian midfielder has been playing since 2017.
If Laimer decides to leave Leipzig for Bayern, he would follow a recent trend of Leipzig players joining their Bundesliga rivals, including Marcel Sabitzer, Dayot Upamecano, and Joshua Kimmich.
With the €77 million acquisitions of De Ligt (Juventus), Sadio Mane (Liverpool), Noussair Mazraoui, and Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax, Bayern has been quite active this summer. The formal announcement of Robert Lewandowski’s transfer to Barcelona was made on Tuesday, according to the German team.
